Three Best Things
The three best things in life are great gardens, good food and good company.
Put those things altogether and you’ve got the makings of
a great lavender festival weekend.
Great Gardens
This garden makes me happy.
The Kitty Lavender Farm is packed with beautiful flowers, bushes and trees. Every square inch is meticulously maintained. I ran through the front garden and said to myself, “this garden makes me happy.”
The lavender fields smell wonderful. When you walk through the rows and rows of lavender, you can hear the bees buzzing. They are all drunk with lavender nectar.
If you look up from the lavender fields, you see a charming rustic old barn. Many visitors like to take pictures here.
Look further up, you will see the Olympic Mountains. Oh to be an eagle - soar over the lavender fields and scale the heights of the mountains!
Beautiful lilies in all their glories
Erich and his improved distiller.
In addition to the gorgeous gardens, visitors also get to see how lavender is dried and processed into oils.
Guests get to sample and learn about all the hand crafted lavender products. It’s a wonderful time to indulge.
Good food
Champagne Brunch
Every July, friends travel to the Kitty Lavender Farm to help celebrate the lavender bounty of the year. Some of us work in the gift shop, some work around the various outside displays, and the really tough ones work in the lavender fields. I have been working in the kitchen for the last five summers. (I always show up where the food is. Honestly, who wouldn’t?)
Taco Lunch
Kitty is very thoughtful about each meal. It’s planned for ease of delivery and perfection in presentation. (No food truck approach here.)
Chinese cold noodles
Good Company
Making New Friends in the Kitchen
Saturday night crab dinner
After two days of hard work, we are all treated to an all you can eat crab dinner.

As Christmas is approaching fast and the weather is cold and dreary, it’s wonderful to look back at this summer’s pictures and be reminded that it was hot and sunny here in Sequim, WA.
Taking a break from kitchen duty and rowing in the neighbor’s pond.
See you soon in my next post.
