Sequim had days and days of rain and cloudy weather.  I was beginning to think that sunshine was a figment of my imagination.   I combatted S.A.D. by confiscating grow lights from my house plants. I put them up by my bed and couch.  My dog and cat curled up on my lap under these grow lights for days.  We all hoped that sunny days would come around again soon.

Finally, the sun showed up this past weekend.  It was like magic.  Everything outside looked happy again.  I quickly grabbed my dog and went for a much needed hike in the beautiful Robin Hills Park down the road.

Only a few minutes away from home, the park welcomed us into a world of tall evergreens, winding forest paths and lush giant ferns.

I met my friends there and made a leisurely walk along the paths.  I exclaimed, “this is a rainforest!”

We stopped and admired the local flora.  But our two herding dogs, Beau and Hani, complained every time.  Beau is an Australian shepherd and Hani is an Aussidoodle mutt. They needed constant action.

Beau’s owner, Bob is an incredible photographer.  I asked him to take some close-up pictures of moss and mushrooms.

I could not believe that just a few minutes drive down the road would place us in such a restful escape.  We were only a couple of miles from the busy 101 freeway but it felt like we were miles away in the wilderness.

We finished the hike in an hour, happy, relaxed and totally muddy.

I came home to a beautiful sunset. Perfect ending for a perfect day.
